I really utilize Ted Talks, especially for my AP classes. They are almost like visual essays (thesis, evidence, support) and they are usually short enough to keep them engaged, but also strong models for persuasive writing. Ted Ed would probably offer an even wider variety of topics to use.

DeleteI recently used a TED talk to illustrate the science behind ethical decisions (e.g., what motivates people)--it was brief, clear, illustrative and relevant. --TC
ReplyDeleteThis would be a great resource for formative assessment because the quiz feature of the Ted Ed lessons let's students review the material and retake answer the question if they answer incorrectly. I often use YouTube videos in my classroom to provide additional information and visuals. Using this, I could make any YouTube videos an actual lesson, which is pretty exciting!
ReplyDeleteTed -ed is a great way of flipping your class and using formative assessments to assess your students knowledge prior to class.
