All sophomores delivered very professional-looking and engaging presentations in Susie’s religion classes using PREZI instead of PowerPoint. They learned the tool very quickly, collaborated on a single presentation both at school and at home, and creatively arranged their information with meaningful images and minimal text. They thoughtfully used the 3D space to stress important points and drill in to details. They embedded video too!
It was nice to pump new life into the “reverse teaching” experience for them…. They had to research the material and “teach” the class about their topic. They acted more like teachers than speakers, there was a noticeable confidence in their delivery. Susie and I also noticed that
students had an increased level of interest in watching each other’s presentations, and best of all, the presenters did not rely on reading text from bullet points. They presented BETTER as speakers using Prezi … and they shared with each other what they liked about each presentation.
Feedback from the students included:
Easier than PowerPoint
More fun to make
More interesting to watch
Had to get through the learning curve, but liked the outcome better than PowerPoint
Way more interesting and creative
Cool way to collaborate with another student
Makes you think about the big picture more
Please let me know if you have upcoming presentations or “reverse teaching” opportunities in your classes. I’ll be happy to help non-sophomores to experience Prezi and will coach them in their delivery. Sophomore teachers, your girls are ready for anything! Be sure to congratulate Susie for taking the risk with me and learning Prezi herself. She’ll use it in the future to support
her lessons!
