One Hour Workshop - Windows 8

Let's spend some time with Windows 8 tablet features.   Your START screen shows tiles to launch your "apps" as well as full programs on your computer. Desktop tile switches you to classic view. Arrow down to see all applications and apps on your computer R-Click to PIN TO START Drag the tiles around to organize them. R-click the group name to NAME GROUPS like Personal, Entertainment, Science...  Download your first App! On Start screen, find the App Store tile (it's green). Search for TED TALKS and install the app. Once installed, you can find it under Apps Pin to START so easy to find. Drag to group that you want.  Find at least one App for your classes  Your classroom projected computer runs Apps. Fun for students to manipulate at the board. Syncs with your laptop so what you install shows up. Nice for demos, activities, formative assessments, etc.

Converting a pdf to a Word doc.... tip of the day!

Convert PDF file to MS Word file 1.       Open folder to find which PDF file you want to convert (don’t open the pdf) 2.       RIGHT-click on the PDF file you want to convert 3.       Go to “Open with” 4.       Click on “Adobe Acrobat” (NOT acrobat reader!); your file will now open up 5.       On the top left, click on “File” 6.       Go to “Save As”, then “Microsoft Word”, then click on “Word Document” 7.       Choose where you want the file to save, and rename the file if desired 8.       That’s it!
